FUJIFILM Business Innovation New Zealand has appointed David Jupe as its new managing director, replacing Peter Thomas who stepped down last month. Jupe steps into the role from his current position as general manager – Managed Services for FUJIFILM Business Innovation New Zealand.

“The print industry has undergone a huge amount of change in recent years,” David Jupe, Fujifilm New Zealand Managing Director. “This has been challenging in many ways and my focus in this new role will be on ensuring we have a sustainable, long-term business. We’ll build on our position as the market leader in New Zealand by being nimble and keeping pace with changing market needs.

“I am looking forward to working closely with our team and our customers to keep bringing innovative print, digital and outsourced solutions to New Zealand.”

Fujifilm invests in a new facility that would be constructed at its Delaware, USA, Fujifilm Imaging Colorants (FFIC) operation and involves a spend of around $19m (£13.7m); aiming to meet growing demand for water-based pigment inkjet inks.

FFIC makes water-based inkjet inks, and the new production facility will make pigment dispersions using Fujifilm’s own RxD Reactive Dispersion know-how.

“Expansion of our manufacturing capacity is part of a commitment to ensure we can meet increasing demand to support our global customer base,” Ian Wilkinson, president and chief operating officer of FFIC Inc.

Fujifilm Europe announces Toshihisa "Toshi" Iida has taken up the position as new President and Managing Director for FUJIFILM Europe GmbH, Düsseldorf, Germany, and FUJIFILM Europe B.V., Tilburg, Netherlands.

Toshihisa will be responsible for a wealth of businesses across the region, where Fujifilm operate 55 group companies in 43 countries, employing 4,500 people engaged in research and development, manufacturing, sales, marketing and service. Based in Düsseldorf, Germany, he will be responsible for all business divisions including Medical Systems, Photo Imaging and instax, Electronic Imaging, Optical Devices, Graphic Systems, Recording Media and Industrial Products, as well as new ventures that utilize a number of highly versatile core technologies originally developed from within Fujifilm’s photo film business. These include regenerative medicine, cell culture media and membrane technologies.

Toshihisa succeeds Mark Yamamoto who was appointed Managing Director of Fujifilm in Europe in May 2018, who will now take up a new assignment as a Board Director for FUJIFILM Corporation in Tokyo, Japan.
